Thesis: "Optoelectronic Color Image Recognition By The Joint Transform Correlator With Liquid Crystal Panels" Advisor: Dr. Chulung Chen Patent: "Real-time Remote Backup System and Related Method" The software packages using this method have been running in NAS products of QNAP and IEI since 2002. It makes their NAS be able to perform realtime backup that used to be only available on high-level storage products. Ongoing Projects - Tangible Tracking Table The Tangible Tracking Table (TTT) is an interactive tabletop display that allows both fingertip and tangible object tracking. Multiple users can simultaneously control a variety of tagged objects that can perform different tasks. At the same time, users can employ their fingertips for more subtle manipulations. TTT supports a range of digital media applications in collaborative settings, such as meeting rooms, classrooms and living rooms. Applications under development include games and storytelling engines, as well as a stage manager for machinima creation. - Interactive Display Window Display windows are windows in a shop displaying items. Usually people see interesting artifacts sitting on the other side of a display window and cannot interact with these items. Often, stores play videotapes or TV news on a display on the other side of a display window. This project tends to use sensing technologies to detect gestures of people interacting with the display window. Consequently, visitors can interact with items or displays in stores from a display window.
